Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode introduces Terminus, one of two launch maps that promises an expansive and immersive experience for players. Here’s what we can expect from this new addition:
Setting and Atmosphere
Terminus is set on an island that formerly served as a CIA blacksite with a dark history dating back to World War II. The map features a grim and foreboding atmosphere, with players navigating through a prison complex turned bio-research station. You’ll encounter eerie sights like bodies floating in vats and mutated creatures, setting a chilling tone for the zombie-slaying action.
Map Layout and Points of Interest
Terminus is touted as the largest Zombies map in the franchise’s history, offering players a vast area to explore. The map is divided into several key points of interest (POIs), including:
- Cells and Guard Station
- Security Overlook and Control Center
- Living Quarters
- Sea Tower
- Gun Battery Platform
- Sea Caves and Mining Tunnels
- Bio Lab
- Inclined Lift and Maglev Elevator
- Shipwreck
- The Outer Islands
Players will have the freedom to fully explore the prison area, ocean, and smaller islands surrounding the main complex.
Unique Features and Traps
Terminus introduces some exciting new elements to enhance the Zombies experience:
The Tentacle: A massive creature lurking in the waters around the island, ready to snatch unwary players.
Tentacle Traps: Doors that, when activated, can pull entire hordes of zombies into a grotesque mouth, swallowing them whole.
Cannon Traps: Repurposed heavy artillery that can be used as a powerful defense against the undead, provided players can power them up.
Story and Characters
The map continues the storyline from Black Ops Cold War, featuring familiar operators like Weaver, Dr. Grey, and Carver, along with a new character named Maya1. Players can choose any unlocked operator, but selecting one of these four main characters will provide additional voice lines for a more immersive experience.
Boss Fight
Terminus is expected to feature a formidable boss fight, potentially involving the massive tentacle creature seen in promotional materials. Given the map’s unprecedented size, players can anticipate a challenging and epic confrontation.
Gameplay Mechanics
The map returns to the classic round-based Zombies format, allowing players to customize their loadouts with Augments, Gobblegums, and other features. The expansive layout and numerous POIs suggest that exploration and resource management will play crucial roles in survival strategies.
With its blend of classic Zombies elements and innovative new features, Terminus promises to deliver an exciting and challenging experience for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players when it launches on October 25, 2024
